I AM A CYBER SECURITY HERO
Our cyber security training module is not only about training young children to be safe online via hands-on projects in the Makerspace, storytelling with animations and art, manipulating computer codes to complete security tasks, and by using captivating themes such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Mission Impossible. It is about empowering campers to spot security breaches and bad actors, and to reject and report the same rather than following blindly or living in silence. The intrinsic value of this type of training to parents is peace of mind. Your child will be online whether known or unknown to you, and some bad actors on social media or from the dark corners of the Internet will always be trying to steal their innocence and personal identifiable information. By giving these young children real-world training via a myriad of different but interconnected activities over several hours, they will acquire the tools, mindset and knowledge to keep themselves from being online victims. This training will also empower children to make better choices concerning everyday safety issues.
